Organizational Overview

United Way of Fort Smith Area is a volunteer driven organization with the United Way staff supporting this structure. A local volunteer board of directors governs the United Way.

The Allocation Council is made up of board members and volunteers who are responsible for ensuring that our donors’ gifts are invested wisely in our communities. Teams examine our community partners and ensure that all agencies meet accountability standards of United Way membership. They make informed decisions on how your gifts can make the most impact in our area. The United Way and community partners are good stewards of your money.

The staff is divided into three departments, which work to support the United Way mission –to improve lives by connecting people and resources in our six-county area.

Campaign
The Campaign Department has primary responsibility for fundraising efforts. This department runs the annual campaign and cultivates new resources and opportunities to raise funds to support health and human services in the communities of Crawford, Franklin, LeFlore, Logan, Sebastian and Sequoyah counties. This year the department is working with community volunteers and local companies to raise awareness about the needs in our community.

Finance and Administration
Finance and Administration has the overall responsibility for the maintenance of financial records. This includes organizational assets and investments and monitoring and reporting of financial position.

Marketing and Communications
The Marketing and Communications Department develops all materials used by United Way departments including brochures, videos, public service announcements, newsletters, media support materials, and Web site content. Thanks to sponsorship from media and printing companies, the Marketing Department is able to help create visibility and share the good work the organization and its member agencies do to help our community.
