The Center for Arkansas Legal Services is a non-profit organization that delivers legal help to low-income people in civil matters. They give advice about legal problems and provide legal representation to clients who qualify. Clients are represented by a staff attorney or by a private attorney who volunteers his/her time. The Center for Arkansas Legal Services does not charge for services – initial interview, all later meetings and all attorney fees are free. However, you may be responsible for paying court costs.

The Center for Arkansas Legal Services:

  • Gives assistance to resident who incomes are at or below Federal poverty guidelines.
  • Provides help for people in Crawford, Franklin, Logan, Scott and Sebastian counties.
  • Is one of only two legal service programs in Arkansas.
  • Takes applications by phone and schedules appointments – does not give free legal advice over the phone.
