“Allowing youth to learn in a fun and educational
environment”
The Boys and Girls Club of Sequoyah County is a
collaborative effort between Child Fund International
and the Boys and Girls Club of America. Membership is
more than 5,000 Sequoyah County children, ranging from 6
to 18 years old.
Educational outreach services are provided to the
county’s school campuses through tutoring, summer camps,
math and reading incentive activities and drug and
alcohol education programs.
The club facility at 113 North Elm provides educational,
physical fitness and craft activities in a safe, clean
environment that is geared just for kids.
The Boys and Girls Club of Sequoyah County strives to
instill in each member a:
• Sense of competence – the feeling that there is
something they can do and do well.
• Sense of usefulness – the opportunity to do something
of value for other people.
• Sense of belonging – a setting where they “fit” and
are accepted.
• Sense of power and influence – a chance to be heard
and to influence decisions.
Members are able to enjoy their interests, nurture their
talents, dissolve their prejudices, express their
personality, develop friendships, build self-esteem,
contribute to society and achieve personal success.
