“Providing domestic violence and sexual assault services”

Crisis Intervention Center, formerly Crisis Center for Women, has been in operation since 1979 with a mission to end domestic violence and sexual assault through services, education and prevention programs which empower men, women and children to live free of fear and harm within their own families and the community.

Services include:

  • Domestic violence and sexual assault services to victims residing in Sebastian, Crawford, Logan, Franklin, Scott and Polk counties in Arkansas and LeFlore and Sequoyah counties in Oklahoma.

  • Shelter services – a free 45-day residential program. Staffed 24 hours a day, a victim receives safety planning, case management services, legal advocacy, children’s advocacy and transitional services as they exit the program. The program can accommodate up to 32 persons at one time.

  • On-site licensed childcare facility specific to family violence victims. Children receive one-on-one counseling, education, advocacy and emotional support

  • On-site Sexual Assault Response Center – allows a victim of rape an immediate and private location where they can receive a rape exam, advocacy and case management services from a response team. The response team consists of a certified sexual assault nurse examiner, local law enforcement officers and a member of the rape crisis staff. The Center also provides child victims of sexual abuse a forensic exam. Families receive advocacy, counseling and support for the non-offending parent/parents.

  • Awareness and prevention program that teaches a five-day curriculum in junior and senior high schools throughout the service area. More than 7, 700 students participated in 2008.

  • Free support groups (specific to each county), mentoring group and parenting classes. Free childcare provided in Sebastian County.

Volunteers are needed to assist with childcare, client transportation and in the Thrift Store. Contact 479-782-1821, ext. 1011 for more information.
