For more than a century, the Fort Smith Salvation Army has served the needs of the area by dedication to the hope and vision of its founder, General William Booth. The Salvation Army is a religious based, non-profit organization that is concerned about the spiritual, social and material needs of the community.

• The Salvation Army reaches out to those in need by providing food, clothing, shelter and other various life supporting needs for individuals and families without discrimination.
   
• The agency offers a homeless shelter and transitional housing program, emergency utility cut-off assistance, as well as disaster relief services as needed.
   
• The agency provides holiday assistance programs such as “Angel Tree” gifts for children and family food boxes for Christmas, as well as a Thanksgiving meal and additional assistance for those in need.
   
• Year round, the Salvation Army offers character building programs for all men, women, boys and girls to help them become outstanding citizens in the community.
