intellectual and developmental disabilities.”

 

 



Founded in 1959, The Arc was the forerunner of services in the River Valley to the disabled. Affiliated with the Arc of the United States, we are able to legislate on a national, state, and local level. Forbes magazine rated The Arc highly in terms of charitable commitments with 89% of all funds devoted to program services. The Arc has over 400 members from the  surrounding areas with disabilities that include Autism, Cerebral Palsy, Downs Syndrome,  brain injuries etc.

The Arc provides:

• ADVOCACY – help for clients, parents, caregivers, and guardians on how to access programs and services for the disabled.

• EDUCATION – offering computer activities, art therapy, self-improvement, and fitness

• RECREATION- opportunities that provide social interaction for children and adults that that are geared to their level. The activities that build self-esteem and  confidence include: bowling, dances, parties, fun walk, annual fishing derby, talent show, water park activities, entertainment nights & parades.
