Eddie Lee Herndon, United Way of Fort Smith Area, President and CEO said, “Thanks to our sponsors, APT Tour staff and players, Hardscrabble Country Club, participating partner agencies, and volunteers, the United Way Classic was a huge success in the inaugural year. Overcoming COVID challenges, the pros had an incredible tournament, we raised $60,000 for our agencies, and the economic impact to the area was over $500,000. We are expecting great things again this year and greatly appreciate all of our sponsors.”

One hundred and fifty-six professionals participated in the United Way Classic in 2020. When the family members, caddies, and friends were added to the mix, nearly 400 people visited Fort Smith during the APT event. While in town, they spent money on housing, food, retail, and more. On average, each person spent $400 during the 6-day event. The estimated economic impact of the event was well over $500,000 for Fort Smith. “If 2020 was any indication of what’s to come at this year’s United Way Golf Classic, it will certainly be a special event for the pros, sponsors, and spectators”, said Gary DeSerrano, All Pro Tour President. DeSerrano added, “Fort Smith is such a wonderful city and the vibe of the event has quickly vaulted the United Way Golf Classic to the pros’ favorite. We are excited to see what year two brings.”

The event this year will be open to the public.  COVID protocols that are in place at the time of the tournament will be followed. The Pro-Am event is a fun opportunity to improve your game, play with a Pro, and improve your network. Teams of four will be paired with a Pro from the All-Pro Tour. There will be a morning and afternoon flight with a shotgun starts at 8am and 1pm.  The Youth Clinic will be open to youth in first through twelfth grades. Registration will be limited to the first 50 and will be on a first-come, first-served basis. One parent or guardian may attend and must stay with the child.
